Dame told a story once of how he was killin' it for some AAU team, and once he was playing well, a higher-profile team started to recruit him. He said that he decided loyalty to the team that first believed in him was more important, so he stayed with them.
Contrast that with Chris Bosh's comments about AAU culture - how players move around to whatever team provides more exposure - and you can see how Lillard is cut from a different cloth.

Dame is one of the coolest NBA stars for sure.
Portland has managed to stay in that upper middle tier for a lot of his time there, so that helps his experience.

Blazers just can’t attract the talent needed for a ring. Every trade or free agent signing has been Chris Kaman, Eric Maynor, Marcus Camby, Channing Frye, Evan Turner type guys. Reliable players that Portland media loves because they “play the right way”, but they’re not taking the team anywhere.
