Cavs coach Larry Drew says there has been ‘no discussion’ about his future in Cleveland

As the Cleveland Cavaliers prepare for their first offseason without a playoff trip since before LeBron James’ return, head coach Larry Drew revealed that there haven’t been any talks about what his future will hold.
Speaking to the media prior to the Cavs’ game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, he gave a short answer about his situation, per Chris Manning of Fear The Sword:
“No discussion about my future and we’ll wait to until the end of the season to discuss that,” Drew said.
After taking over just six games into the season after Tyronn Lue was fired, Drew was signed on to be the head coach for the remainder of the year, and he even received a guaranteed portion of money for next season regardless of if he returns as head coach.
While Drew may seem hesitant to discuss his future, many around the league believe he won’t be back as the head coach next season. While Drew has done an admirable job given all the injuries, it seems like the front office is opting to move in a different direction and will likely be looking to bring in a coach who can help lead them back into the playoffs and out of the lottery.
The Cavs sit at 19-61 entering play Sunday, good for the third-worst mark in the NBA and leaving them as one of the three teams that will head into the NBA Draft Lottery with the best odds at the No. 1 pick.
